A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in the face.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was found suffering from facial injuries after police were called to reports of gunshots in an alleyway in Morecambe, Lancashire, on Monday at around 5.56pm.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition, LancLive reports.

A police investigation was launched and following enquiries the teenager from Lancaster was arrested on Monday night on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing and reassurance patrols will be increased in the area in the coming days.

Det Chief Insp James Edmonds, from Lancashire Police’s West Division, said: “This incident has left a man with some very serious injuries and I would appeal to anyone who has any information to come forward and speak to us.
